Dr Christine Van Dalen
Christine is an experienced GP and practice owner of the Wadestown Medical Practice in Wellington. After completing her general practice training, she followed her interest in asthma, firstly completing a PhD at the Christchurch School of Medicine, followed by many years researching the underlying causes of asthma.
When her husband's work took her and their youngest daughter to France for 3 years, she took the opportunity to formalise her interest in allergy medicine, and completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Allergy at Imperial College, London. Now firmly established and very happy to be back in New Zealand, Christine is combining her general practice with asthma and allergy medicine. She works closely with Dr Richard Steele, Immunologist, in her allergy medicine practice.
Dr James Broadbent
I have completed training in allergy with the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy and completed the Practicum in Clinical Allergy at Melbourne University 2015.
I have fellowship with the NZ College of GPs. I have worked at Riccarton Clinic for more than a dozen years.
Specialist Nurse / Co-ordinator
I have over 30 years of nursing experience in a wide variety of areas, most recently in general practice. The part of the job I enjoy most is the education and health promotion aspect and this is something I bring to the allergy service. Helping those patients who elect to go down the desensitization route from initial consultation as "a sniveling mess" through to being symptom-free has been incredibly fulfilling.
I am usually the first point of contact when anyone calls our service and look forward to speaking with you soon.
I completed training in allergy testing last year but I have been a registered nurse for the past 19 years. I trained at CPIT, then spent a number of years in London working predominately in District, and Practice Nursing. On my return in 2007 I joined the fantastic team at Riccarton Clinic as a Practice Nurse. Here I have gained valuable experience in woman's health, child immunisations, travel medicine and emergency nursing...to name a few.
I have 3 beautiful children who keep me busy outside of work. I am looking forward to my new role as part of South Island Allergy team.
